BUT, with all the wonderful online programs available now, she won't have to
leave the state of Montana if she doesn't want to.  Kudos to her for
deciding to become a children's librarian. I'm a displaced Montanan
(Glendive) who attended San Jose State 20 years ago.

I went to St. John's University in NY and received rigorous training which I
thank heaven for every day. I know that Syracuse (also in NY) has a really
fine program, as does the University of South Florida.

A question for the collective wisdom of this list -

 

One of my staff members has decided she wants to obtain her MLIS and become
a children's librarian.  She would like some recommendations of the best
schools (and of course this is all personal opinion right) might be and/or
what are some of the most useful classes to take.  She doesn't mind moving
so location is not a problem.
