Dear Colleagues:
   
  I know this is a question better asked someplace else but as Toby on the West Wing said, "You're my guys".  I lurk most of the time but need your help today.
   
  Can anyone with any opinions out there please share them on the following topic:
   
  What do you see in your libraries that makes for a popular picture book?
  What makes some wildly successful and others so short-lived?
  Why do you think publishers are looking for in picture books today?
   
  I'm speaking to a writers' group from Bank Street College on this topic and I'd like to share your collective wisdom.
