[Publib] Slate Tile Flooring

Given a choice, I would opt for porcelain flooring. It is impermeable,

very hard to stain, available in any color, and can have a relatively

slip free finish. It is also extremely durable.

With any hard surface, book truck noise will be an issue - especially

metal booktrucks with empty shelves.

I have used it in the foyers of several branch libraries. It is soft, its
layers can separate and chip off and it is uneven enough to be a minor trip
hazard. In its defense, it is durable and it ages attractively. I would
not consider using it inside a building, largely because of noise.
