Having recently had to deprogram myself from a jag of hearing Paul Anka's
"Having My Baby" in my head, I agree, that's the main point (though
inconveniencing hearing-challenged staff and users is another). I mean, if
you can figure out how patrons can magically opt to only hear what they want
to hear without anyone else being bothered by it... that would be a cool
science-fiction touch... you could get a great PLA program out of *that.*
As playing devices merge with radio/phone devices, broadcasting in the
library is not even out of the realm of possibility; I can see a library
offering music and tours for visitors.
Dreaming aside, it's the imposition that's at issue here (which is the same
issue with cell phone ringers, yakkers in study areas, etc.).
