If you look at the archives, you'll see that Jim was responding to Gerald's
earlier post:

Jim may not have even read the later post, but in any event, in responding
to the first message in this thread, Jim generously offered his own advice,
based on years of experience, that a large institution may not be all that
welcoming in the first place. 

I won't comment about other posts (including my own) except to say that what
started this thread was a discussion about a staff dispute at a library, and
that other people were trying to continue in this vein.
