"Is it possible there's more than one side to the story? I'd love to hear
what 'the other side' ..."
----
Speaking strictly on my own behalf: I'm also wondering if there aren't
"staff" (since we've heard one person speaking for many) who feel that some
of the forced retirements and reassignments are long overdue; who are
struggling to work with people who are resistant to change; and who may even
be wondering why their union chose to mix it up with administration over
collection decisions when there may have been more critical issues to attend
to.
I also wonder about the grumping about online misrepresentation when, in an
online world, it would have taken a very minimal effort to have the
petitioning group's point of view online in advance, so that the SacBee's
reporting wasn't the only perspective. Those Internet tubes offer many free
strategies for communication. Also, if their union told them that
complaining about buying popular materials was a good strategy, they told
them wrong.
As I wrote on my own blog, there are at least two sides to every story, and
the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
