Or it could be the Valentin St. Cyr mysteries by David Fulmer. I haven't
read them, but the Amazon blurb on Jass (c.2005) quotes Publishers Weekly :
"Set in early 20th-century Storyville, the New Orleans red-light
district..." and Booklist: "Fulmer's second Storyville mystery, starring
Creole detective Valentin St. Cyr..." The first title in the series was
Chasing the Devil's Tail (c.2001).

Hi all,
Caroline asked: Does this ring a bell with anyone: A series of novels about
a Creole
detective in turn-of-the-20th-century New Orleans? There are at least
two, and they were probably written in the last ten years or so.
Sounds like the Wesley Farrell novels by Robert Skinner: Skin Deep, Blood
Red; Cat-Eyed Trouble; and Daddy's Gone A-Hunting.
