I've actually been doing a little research on this as well. Here are a

few references I've found (other than those already given):

South Carolina Public Library Economic Impact Study
http://www.libsci.sc.edu/SCEIS/home.htm

Vermont Library Association Library Value Calculator
http://www.vermontlibraries.org/value.html

Here are a few references to articles that use an economic method
called
contingent valuation to value public libraries:

Aabo, Svanhild. (2005). "Valuing the benefits of public libraries."
/Information Economics and Policy/, /17/(2): 175-198.

Harless, David W. and Frank R. Allen. 1999. “Using the Contingent
Valuation Method to Measure Patron Benefits of Reference Desk Service
in
an Academic Library.” /College & Research Libraries/,/ 60/: 56-69.

Holt, Glen E., Donald Elliott, and Amonia Moore. (1999). “Placing a
Value on Public Library Services.” /Public Libraries/ 38(2): 98-108.

I hope those help. I'd love to hear whatever else people have found on

this as well.

Cheers!
Buzzy
