[Publib] resume question

Greetings Jennifer,

I think it makes sense to present the resume as an interactive

document so that key words will link to in-depth information.

I provide a paper copy along with a linked pdf / word and on-line

version: http://oceanstatelibrarian.com/second/balliot.htm

This method also helps to demonstrate comfort and

skill with current technology which, in my opinion, should be

a basic requirement for any director. It also helps to answer

questions prior to an interview.

If an interview is scheduled, you should also bring paper copies

on quality paper to hand out to the interviewers so that they

can follow along with your presentation. If they receive a

photocopied resume, the quality of reproduction can

be an impediment.

Sincerely -

Subject: [Publib] resume question

I hope you can help me with this! :)

I have a friend who is applying for a directorship at a public library who
has a question about the length of resumes. Is the old rule about keeping
your resume to only one page still valid? I was under the impression that 2
pages are acceptable if you have enough job experience, especially for a
position such as a directorship, but my friend disagrees.

I feel that limiting yourself to only one page may leave things out, but my
friend said she was going to add more information in her cover letter if
anything was left out. I feel that all of your information should be in your
resume, and your cover letter should just bring it all together.

I do not think a CV will be appropriate for her. So, should she limit
herself to one page, or can librarians with more experience have 2 (or more)
page resumes these days?

Thanks so much for your help with this!
