A term that I think is southern is "carry"  -- my friend in Maryland 
said she asked her husband to carry her to the store.  In the car, 
not on his back, I assume.  Maybe from the word "carriage"?

And a New England-ism:  a co-worker said she had company coming and 
had to "redd up" the room.  The other term I've never heard outside 
of New England is grammar school -- what the rest of the country 
calls elementary school.
