YOUTH SERVICES MANAGER IN VIRGINIA---The Montgomery-Floyd (VA) Regional
Library System is seeking a dynamic, outgoing Youth Services Manager.  This
position is integral in developing and planning children's services for a
two county system.  Responsibilities include selection of materials and
collection development, coordinating, planning and implementing programs for
children, including story times, young adult activities, planning the summer
reading program.  This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule that
may include evenings and weekends; travel may be required. 

 

Montgomery and Floyd Counties are located in the scenic southwestern
mountains of Virginia in the picturesque New River Valley.  This area is
home to three institutions of higher education:  Virginia Tech, Radford
University, and New River Community College, and is highly ranked in various
quality of life surveys.  The Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library System
serves an area over 774 square miles with a population of approximately
100,400.

 

Requirements: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited
school of Library and Information Science and experience in children's
services in a public library; and certification as a professional librarian
by the Commonwealth of Virginia within six months of employment.

 

Salary: Starting at $37,520 with excellent benefits.
