Mary, 

This is way off track, but since you mention IL (where I grew up in the
cornfields of central IL), my grandmother always referred to Iowa as
I-way, and Missouri and MissourAh. Generational or regional??? I don't
recall ever picking up that pronunciation. :)

This discussion is cracking me up. Mostly because I have only lived in
IL but have been known to use "you all" "y'all" or "you" on various
occasions. Now I'll have to add "you's" or whatever it was to my
repertoire. :-)
