Greetings,
If you are creating new buildings, one thing that you might consider is
using fuel cell technology
for heating and cooling. When I was replacing a HVAC system, it was one of
the options that
I investigated, but it appeared that a retrofit would have been cost
prohibitive. Fuel cell technology
was used effectively by the Navy to help power their local base. It uses
natural gas very efficiently
and the only byproduct is water.
I think that there are now opportunities for grants for this alternative,
green methods and the
technology has improved since I investigated.

Would you please forward any responses you receive to me - we are building
two brand new Leed libraries and I am looking for Grant funding too. I will
let you know anything I find out.

Something that just popped into my head yesterday, & I thought I would ask
the collective about it to see if anyone has any thoughts. Has anyone heard
of or applied for grant funding for 'green' library improvements - whether
this be something like grass on the roof or solar paneling or anything else
for that matter?
