[Publib] Library 2.0?!

I think that everybody who writes cheat-sheets or other instructions and
documentation should be required to read the craft projects and recipes
in Martha Stewart Living, Fine Cooking and similar magazines. The
instructions are clear, precise, and unambiguous. If you follow them,
you will have a good result. If I had a nickel for every lousy set of
instructions from Big Hardware and Big Software I've ever read, I
wouldn't be waiting for the lottery, I'd be lying on a the lanai of my
beachfront suite on Waikiki Beach.

"I'm all for good documentation... if people actually used it, that
would be even cooler. Did I ever tell the PUBLIB folks about an
experience at a Former Place Of Work learning through usability testing
that just about nobody reads documentation?"

The biggest problem that I've found with many forms of documentation and
other forms of "help" is that it tends not to be helpful, leaning often
towards things I easily figured out for myself. This is my biggest pet
peeve with help functions and perhaps why many people skip them
altogether.
