Southeast Steuben County Library
Library Director

The Board of Trustees of the Southeast Steuben County Library is seeking a Library Director to oversee the library’s staff of 7FTEs, 3 OTFT and 60 enthusiastic volunteers. The annual operating budget exceeds $900,000 and the library has a generous endowment. In addition to serving the diverse community of Corning, the library provides library service to the neighboring communities of Campbell, Caton, Erwin, Hornby, and Lindley. An excellent Friends of the Library provides on-going grassroots support to the library at many levels. The library underwent a total re-organization in 2000, which included a re-design of the interior. On-going change is needed to secure steady funding and meet increasing customer demands. The library is noted for its excellent customer service and children’s programs.
Corning is centrally located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region and is home to Fortune 500 Corning Incorporated. The library’s website www.stls.org/corning contains links to numerous educational and cultural links to attractions in this unique area in upstate New York.
Vision, leadership, energy and the desire to make a difference are a must to accomplish this unique growth opportunity. Applicants must possess an MLS from an ALA accredited library school plus 3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, including supervisory experience.
