[Publib] Fax for the public?

We've been offering public fax service for about a year now. We have a
stand-alone fax from Fax24. It did require its own telephone line, if I'm
not mistaken. It's been a great service and is very easy to use. We offer
either fax cards, which we sell at the reference desk or patrons can charge
a fax to their credit cards. If you call the toll-free number for support,
the guy answers it himself. Here's their number: 800-468-2748.

Subject: [Publib] Fax for the public?

Greetings Publibbers,

My library is investigating the possibility of providing a public fax =
service. If you are doing this now, can you tell us how it's going? =
What problems have you experienced, or conversely is it smooth sailing? =
Do you charge for long distance? Or do you only provide local service?=20

Thanks for any insight you can provide to us.

If you want to send this information to me offlist, I will compile the =
answers for those interested.

Sincerely,

Jeff Imparato
