[Publib] Fax for the public?

Being in a small town without a Staples/Office Max type store, we provide
public fax, but with some restrictions.
We will only fax to places in the 48 United States (previously we had
patrons asking to send multiple pages oversees)
And it costs $2 per page to send, $1 to receive.
We have very few requests, however those who use the service are glad for
it.
The only difficulty is the additional time for the staff to send the fax (it
is not self serve). But we look at it as a community service.

Subject: [Publib] Fax for the public?

Greetings Publibbers,

My library is investigating the possibility of providing a public fax =
service. If you are doing this now, can you tell us how it's going? = What
problems have you experienced, or conversely is it smooth sailing? = Do you
charge for long distance? Or do you only provide local service?=20

Thanks for any insight you can provide to us.

If you want to send this information to me offlist, I will compile the =
answers for those interested.

Sincerely,

Jeff Imparato
