At my FPOW, we used a signal -- either a behind the back hand signal or an
ear-pull or something like that -- in order to get "rescued" from a patron
when we were out in the stacks. a coworker at the desk would page (usually
we knew who the chatty patrons were and would keep an eye on the coworker if
we saw her/him cornered by one of the PAC terminals or out on the floor).
