Teen Services Librarian (2)

Position Title: Teen Services Librarian
1 Permanent Full-Time and 1 Permanent Part-Time (20 hours per week)
Schedules to be determined and will include evenings and weekend hours
Reports To: Head of Children's, Tween and Teen Services

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Teen programming and special projects, programs, and tasks as assigned
* Reference and reader's advisory for all ages
* Teen print and media collection development
* Act as liaison with Adult Services Department
* Promote reading and literacy awareness at the Library and throughout the
community
* Work with contributors and developers to coordinate production of website
content

Qualifications:
* Enthusiastic commitment to teen services
* Positive, creative attitude and approach to problem solving
* Knowledge of teen literature, media and information resources
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong organizational and planning skills
* Knowledge of web content technology trends, including blogs, podcasts and
database applications
* Ability to apply and use new technologies and other innovations
* Strong commitment to delivering top-notch customer service
* Interest in and awareness of community activities
* MLS Graduate/Student from an ALA accredited institution
* Eligibility for Michigan Librarian Professional Certificate
* Coursework in teen literature and/or services desired
* Successful experience as youth librarian in a public library desired
* Reference and reader's advisory experience desired


Full-time salary range: $36,000-56,000
Benefits: Fringe benefit package, paid holidays, prorated sick and vacation
leave

Part-time salary range: $17-24/hour
Benefits: Paid holidays, prorated sick and vacation leave
