Strengthen Your Librarys Literacy Services
Literacy services are not only a natural fit for libraries, but the public also believes that literacy services belong in the library. The PLA Spring Symposium workshop "Mining Gold in the 21st Century: Strengthening Your Library with Literacy Services" will showcase best practices and lessons learned in the provision of literacy services including marketing, community outreach, program design, and volunteer management. Whether or not you already have literacy services in your library you will take home a wealth of ideas for starting or nurturing your literacy efforts. Sponsored by the California Library Association.
In addition to "Mining Gold in the 21st Century: Strengthening Your Library with Literacy Services," the 2007 PLA Spring Symposium features five other one-and-a-half-day workshops focused on the issues that matter most to public library staff. Each workshop will immerse participants in their topic of choice, demystify trends and tools, and spotlight practical information to help you implement change in your library. The Symposium will be held in San Jose, California at the Fairmont San Jose, March 1-3, 2007. Registrations will be accepted by fax, mail, or online through January 26, 2007. Space is limited. Visit www.pla.org for full workshop descriptions and to register or call 800.545.2433 ext. 5.
