I helped with adult programming for years in NY and will begin doing it again here in McAllen, TX. Both are medium libraries in fairly small communities. Our most successful were:

monthly book discussions
monthly poetry "peer review" workshops (me as moderator)
monthly musical presentations (everything from classical guitar to a family of cloggers to jazz quartets and Frank Sinatra sound-alikes!)
cooking for health demonstrations
ethnic cooking demonstrations
interactive, whole-family presentations (like an African storyteller)
jewelry making/beading
scrapbooking
intro to yoga (6 weeks, once a week)
intro to ballroom dancing (salsa, tango, etc.)
computer classes called "Computer Kindergarten," "Computer 1st Grade," etc.

Subject: [Publib] Adult programming

Years ago. before I became Sys Admin I did adult programming. Loads of
fun, but somehow in the setup of a new automation system
this got lost. Director would like to begin adult programs now, and I'm
asking the list for suggestions suitable for a medium size public
library in a small community.
Only a month ago I had a fit of clean and tossed all of my old contacts
and ideas thinking " I won't need these again"
Yeah, right...Murphy strikes again

Suggestions from the collective welcome.
