I was off for a few days and didn't get to comment before the compilation, 
but why are you naming them at all? We do only 13% of our checkout at the 
"circ services desk" and the rest are self check, self renewal or staff 
checkouts done elsewhere. What was important for us was naming the desk 
where we do registration / fines / address checks. The self checks are 
where people check out unless there is a problem. As the default service, 
they don't need a name, though we did put nice lighted signs above them.
