[Publib] Wall Street Journal Weighs In On Public Libraries

III's Millennium has the ability to run the reports but we're in the process
of majorly updating the ILS to the most recent version so we're waiting for
this update before investing the time on configuring it. We're using the
good old "Create lists" function during the meantime. 
While the RFID is cost prohibitive, we may be implementing it in our new,
"yet-to-be-built" library
(http://www.chulavistalibrary.com/locations.asp#RanchodelReyBranch) which
will be coincidentally located in a fairly affluent, recently developed part
of town close to a number of commercial bookstores. ;) With the
socioeconomic breakdown of these communities within this system alone, it
will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Like Lise, I look forward to
reading a rebuttal to Mr. Miller's column!

But doesn't every ILS offer the capability to create such reports?  Even our
home-grown system (to be replaced by the end of 2007, please the gods)
allows us to do that.  

Or are you referring to the systems that will read an entire shelf of books
by waving a wand at them?  If so, I think we're talking RFID and beaucoup
bucks.
