As a tangential topic to the "Library Closing for 'after school hours'"
topic, I am curious if any libraries hire off-duty police officers for
security. In my town, as in many other communities, police officers are
hired to provide security at grocery stores, flea markets and other
businesses, particularly on nights and weekends.

It seems that might be an option for libraries that face especially
thorny security issues that require a more robust presence than a
security guard can provide.
