Cheri - eight of our twenty-four branches have separate computer labs.
Most of them are open twelve hours a day Mondays thru Thursdays (and
nine hours on other days). Several are new buildings - many were built
into existing older structures. We've never had a heat problem. As
long as you've got air returns in the room you should be fine (one of
our retro-fits did not and that was an issue).
I would recommend flat panel monitors though.

We are building a new library, and have a new wrinkle to address. The
building is 15,000 sq. ft, and we will have a computer room set off by
itself that is 25' x 16'. We plan to have 10 computers in there, and
they will be used all the time we are open....11 hours a day. The
engineers are wondering if the computers will generate too much heat,
and should they install an additional separate roof unit to heat and
cool the room. Has anybody out there already had this problem?
Thanks
for the info, Cheri
