[Publib] Book by Mail

I am considering offering a Books-by-Mail service to all members in our
small town. I am hoping to gain the patronage and support of those who don't
have time to stop in, those who feel the library is too far away from their
homes (more than 10 min.) and those who "always" come to the library when we
are closed.
I do have some questions I was hoping the group could help me with:
1. What types of bags/packaging do you use to send out materials?
2. Do you send all types of library materials or only books?
3. Do you charge for this service?
4. If you are part of a consortium, did you make sure it was ok to
send another library's items through the mail?
5. Is your service very popular with your patrons?
6. What should I carefully consider before creating this program?
7. What else do I need to know?
Thanks,
Amy Neilson
