The Georgia Public Library Service, the state library agency for
Georgia, is accepting applications for the position of PINES Program
Director. The PINES Program Director plans, manages, and directs all
activities of the Public Information Network for Electronic Services
(PINES), a consortium of 259 public libraries with a shared integrated
library system operating on a shared server. Essential duties include,
but are not limited to, supervision of the PINES program staff;
communication with PINES member libraries; defining strategic directions
for the PINES program and the Evergreen software development project;
and service as staff coordinator for the PINES Executive Committee, the
policy-making body of the PINES consortium.
Qualifications include a master's degree in Library Science from an
ALA-accredited program; six years of public library experience, or
experience with library automation projects; experience in supervision
of staff; experience with business practices; and experience working
with collaborative groups. Required skills include outstanding verbal
and written communications skills, tact, organizational skills, and
ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment of innovation.
This position is located in Atlanta, GA. Salary from $70,000, depending
