If anything, they questions are less difficult. It is rare to get
something that requires old fashioned digging in books to locate some
obscure fact.

We get far more of the directional and computer problem questions than
we once did. It is a daily matter that I assist somebody in doing
something in word or aid them in using an online database.

We get very few of the calls from people who want to know, for
instance, when John Wayne died or who the CEO of General Motors is.

I am in a public library serving about 50,000 in the Dallas Fort Worth
area. the clientele is essentailly wealthy, well-educated and able to
find information thaye need without our aid.

Hope this hekps.

I am a student completing my MLS and studying the topic of reference
interviews. I was curious about changes that professional reference
librarians have experienced with regards to the reference interview in

the past ten years. With many patrons using computers and the
Internet, are patrons asking more difficult questions? Thanks in
advance for your assistance.
