That could very well be. I know the export of encryption technology became
a big deal starting back in the Clinton years...
As for the DMCA, amen! And it doesn't stop at the DMCA (bought & paid for
by media lobbyists). The pricing structure of DVDs, and other media too, is
a load of, um... barnacles... as Spongebob would say. With most
commodities, quality has an effect on price -- look at the price difference
between a fine vintage wine ans a Walmart chablis. But the MPAA would have
you believe that "Gone with the Wind" and "Porky's" have enough in common
that they should both be priced at about $13.00. I see no problem here, do
you? :-)
