We buy from both Recorded Books and other vendors.

And the truth is: We buy missing CDs all the time no matter who we
originally bought them from. You just get them free for a lifetime from RB -
other places it's either a year free or you pay six to eight bucks each. And
we repackage all our CD's and DVD's anyway. And we don't use Recorded Books
processing. And, this is what they offer as the "added value." You do the
math.

What I really resent is the "exclusive" CDs - you can only get them from
certain library vendors and they all cost several times the going rate. I
think they just price the small library right out of the market with their
monopoly on certain books. I can only assume they make enough off the
"souped up" price that some libraries pay (as the only way to get the CD)to
more than make up for charging a lower price and letting everyone make a
choice.

I don't think they necessarily do anything wrong, I just think everyone
should be able to make an informed choice - every time. But hey, that's just
my opinion - probably worth about what you are paying for it.

If you buy on Amazon, you can't get replacement CDs if one is damaged. The
CDs come in a cardboard box that will last, oh, 30 seconds or so in the
library, and no processing is done.
