[Publib] RE: Sources for free newsletters and magazines

I once worked in a rural area with very limited funding. In order to carry
the number of periodicals that we did, we set up a periodical club where
businesses, organizations, and individuals could donate the cost of a
magazine subscription. In return we posted it on the shelf, "This
periodical is courtesy of _____"

At one time I had banks in three towns donating the cost of business
magazines. Among the others who donated were: Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H,
Kiwanis, and Optimist Club covered most of the youth titles; the Women's
Club, Friends of the Library.

We also had a Savings and Loan that donated five additional titles on a
promotional campaign.

Dear Listmembers,

I work at a rural library as the volunteer librarian. We recently had our
materials budget slashed for periodicals. I am seeking out any sources for
free periodicals and newsletters. We are only interested in receiving print
items, not electronic. How can I find newsletters, magazines, and journals
to subscribe to that are free of charge?
Thank you in advance
