I, too, visited SPL at Midwinter.  Expecting to be befuddled and
dismayed, I was rather pleasantly surprised by my own reaction.  I
grabbed a self-guided tour map and navigated just fine.  Yes, I had to
look for signs and wander a bit at first, but once I'd toured the
building, the floor plan made sense to me.  I saw lots of patrons on
every floor.  The only people I encountered that looked bewildered or
unhappy were other conference attendees, no lie.

 

I found the building stimulating and challenging, and I liked that.  And
honestly, how many of us wouldn't love to have our libraries be an
international  tourist attraction?
