Our post office regularly gets returned book club editions. It is too expensive for the club to return ship them back so the book club (1) does not charge the member for the item, and (2) the post office stores the items until they have a huge pile and then call us to come pick them up. It is true that the last time we got about 24 copies of CROSS, but for some titles our reserve list is nearly non-existent.

The first time we learned of this availability of titles, we picked up four huge post office canvas bins full of books. We have to pick up the books; the post office doesn't deliver; but that isn't a problem for us. 

This isn't exactly what you asked about. But with a slashed budget maybe this idea will help free-up money elsewhere.
