Another list may have been puosted earlier mentions one of my favorite books of 2007 (Denis Johnson's Tree of Smoke) which the Village Voice did not include, so I'm passing along the Publisher's Weekly list which came out in November.

Best of lists seem fly fast and furious as the old year wanes but I always found good ones to be a helpful checklist to make sure the best of the year's vintage are in the collection.  They can also provide thought-provoking titles for book discussion groups.  

 Have a good Sunday -- that 3" of fluffy snow I mentioned yesterday turned into 7" of heavier stuff as the storm track moved 75 miles of its projected course -- I'm out to do a few hours of shoveling.  I keep telling myself it's good exercise and fresh air.
