Hi~While we are not currently doing this, we are starting in January!
Our current issues will circulate for one week while back issues will
circulate for two weeks, like they always do. We're in a space crunch so
we're also moving to keeping the majority of our magazines for one
current year: so each month, Tech will be withdrawing a handful of
issues rather than doing the big weed once a year.
The current issues will be in a plastic cover and we're going to allow
the plastic cover to go out with the magazine. This is mostly due to the
fact that you need a key to get them out of the covers.
This is definitely an experiment. We'll see how it goes....and I'll be
happy to update you all at the end of January.

Subject: [Publib] circulating current issues of magazines
Thanks to John Richmond's excellent thoughts on circulating current
issues of magazines...is any other library doing this? What was the
patron response? We now circulate quarterlies and bimonthlies but I'd
like to make life easier and circulate all of them, including the weekly
news magazines. Would love to hear all the pros and cons...Thanks!
