For laptop checkouts, we hold patron's driver's licenses as collateral.
We check them out for 2 hours without the power cord.

Through a grant the local community college has permanently "loaned" us
several laptops and Study Buddy units for GED prep. (A Study Buddy looks
like an old GameBoy unit and has plug in cartridges for various topics.)

We are trying to develop a patron check-out policy. Both items will
need to
be used on premises.

If you check-out laptops or items similar to the Study Buddy can you
share
your policies? Do you limit the amount of time? Do you use a type of
security system to prevent walk-outs?

Thanks,

many
ends.
