[Publib] Playaways and batteries

We put in a fresh alkaline battery each time a Playaway is returned. We
don't take staff time to check the battery. Even so, we have had a few
complaints about the batteries not lasting to the end of a book, and
sometimes patrons do replace the battery themselves.

We recycle the batteries that we remove; we don't use rechargeables. I don't
think a unit has ever come back to my branch without a battery.

We offer free earbuds, too (for the patron to keep--who wants used
earbuds??), but most people just use their own headphones.

People love this format. It has been a big success for us.
