Northland Library belongs to the Electronic Inf0ormation Network (EIN),
a consortium that provides technology to public libraries in Allegheny
County (PA).  The EIN has made available to all of the member libraries,
the ability add electronic signatures to the patron record.  We use a
electronic signature pad (ours is a Topaz) similar to those used by
department stores.  The patron signs the pad and their signature is
recorded in their record in our III system.  Since we require a
parent/legal guardian signature for anyone under 18 years, those records
are linked to the parent's/legal guardian's record.  Users are also
asked to sign the back of their cards which contains to necessary
statement that they are agreeing to abide by our policies and fees.
