[Publib] Author visits for a Texas Library--need help.

Right now we are trying to secure author visits for 2008. Alas, we have
found that most authors have already booked the entire year of 2008 and
have no openings.

We are already looking into the Dallas/Fort Worth authors' consortium.
The problem we are running into is a compromise between an author who is
famous enough to draw a teen crowd, but not so famous that we can't
afford them. Do you know of any authors that are "up and coming" in
popularity that we may not have heard buzz about yet?

A major part of our collection update will be graphic novels-if you know
any up and coming graphic novelist I haven't heard of yet.

It may be easier to secure a Texan than someone further away.

Any tips or contacts and resources you can share with us would be much
appreciated. If you need more details about our program in order to send
feedback please let me know. Thank you for all your help.

Sincerely,
