[Publib] Automobile databases

[Hopkins County - Madisonville Public Library]

We use the Ebsco Auto Repair database. We tend to average around 2000
searches per month, & gives us over half of our total database usage per
month! We have just purchased in addition to this the Ebsco Small Engine
Repair database. We have not launched officially yet, but this will probably
happen in the next few days.

To publicize the auto repair, we have made postcards with details on them
and handed them out to the auto parts stores in town.

Could anyone steer us to a source of database critiques, similar to book
critiques? Specifically, we're trying to evaluate automobile repair
databases. We're trying Ebsco and Chiltons, and would be interested in
hearing from anyone who has used these for some time - what is the
satisfaction rate, are people signing up so that they can access them at
home in numbers justifying the cost, etc. Thanks in advance for any
words of wisdom you can give us, either in helping to evaluate them
adequately via a database review source, or through direct experience
you may have had in offering a database to your patrons over the course
of some months/years.
