[Publib] RE: Limiting no. of books on subject

I work at a regional branch, and we don't enforce item limits by subject
although they do at the smaller branches. However, this is a very
competitive area, all the children are "gifted" (apparently there's
something in the water) and this competition starts in kindergarten, or
earlier, and is promulgated by the moms. I have heard mothers tell other
mothers, (including myself!) "good luck finding a book on electricity...(or
whatever subject a report is due on)...I've checked them all out!"

In youth services, if there are no limits on the number of books you could
take out on a certain subject, then some of the children might not have any
resources since books might be hogged by one or two children.

The last three libraries I worked at (including the one I'm at now) does not
have any limits - one was small, two were medium-sized.
