[Publib] Circulation Staff Appearance ??

Different libraries, different rules. When I worked as the head of
circulation at a university library the rule was, if you can wear it to
class then you can wear it to work. Most of the girls who worked for me
liked to wear shorts because of the hot weather. I was known for having
the sexiest looking student workers on campus.
At a public library I worked at as head of circulation the rule was no
shorts or dresses since you had to get down and dirty on the floors
while working in the stacks.
At the last public library I worked at, it was a very small town library
so the staff could really dress very casually as long as it didn't look
sloppy. The student workers weren't allowed to wear sandals or heels to
prevent injury from falling books or falling off step stools. Shorts
were allowed within reason...no Daisy Dukes. Darn it! Anyway, the staff
couldn't wear shorts or t-shirts. I was the head of reference so I
either wore long sleeved shirts during the cooler months or pull over
shirts and Dockers during the summer.
