[Publib] Carpet

At Evergreen Branch Library, shelving was moved out. In late 2006, the
City of Everett decided the library was due for refurbishing after 17
years of continuous heavy use. The contractor hired a moving company
with library moving experience. We considered this an opportunity for
heavy weeding, feeling that a new color scheme and new carpet would make
it feel like a new building so we wanted our collection to look new
also. On the big day, 3 huge moving vans parked out front and a crew
moved special rolling carts in, loaded books onto them and marked them
accordingly. The building was empty while paint was rolled onto the
walls and new carpet tiles laid out. The tiles allow flexibility as use
needs and patterns change -- and allow for possible building expansion
in the future. Some new lighting and new public furnishings were
installed as well. All was returned to, I'd say, about 90% accuracy.
We're pleased with the results. Better yet, our community is pleased
with it. .
