Hi Beth,
Your local Red Cross should be able to help you. Around here they offer CPR
and first aid classes, and courses for babysitters. Most of what they offer
is free. If you don't have time for their full classes maybe they would
offer brief demonstrations.
Here in NJ every county has a health/senior services department. Offer them
a table. They may also have community health projects they are trying to
promote and might provide a speaker.
Also try your agricultural/extension service (in NJ it's through Rutgers).
They offer family and consumer programs as well as agriculture services. We
recently had them do a program called "Fighting Bac" about handling food
safely to prevent such things as salmonella, food poisoning and ecoli.
Our county govt offers a "Women's Health Summit" every year. We always have
a table featuring books and other material about health issues, which gives
us a great chance to promote all our services. The county health department
does things like free blood pressure checks. Maybe you have a local agency
that would do that.
Do you have a Lion's Club in your area? Some of them have "eyemobiles" that
offer free vision exams. Maybe you could invite them.
Hope this is helpful.
