[Publib] Library Carpet

We replaced our rolled carpet with carpet tile in 1997 and have used
carpet tile ever since. The tile works extremely well and is much
easier to maintain. The corners haven't lifted and the tile pieces
haven't moved. The biggest problems have been the same we have had with
rolled carpet before. Some areas are much more heavily worn than
others. Having carpet tile means that we can deal with those areas and
keep the overall carpeting in better condition. Book truck wheels had a
tendency to cause cuts in the old rolled carpet -- especially when the
rolled carpet had padding underneath that had been designed to make the
carpet surface softer. Carpet tile with firm rubber backing has worked
well for us during the past 10 years.

Subject: [Publib] Library Carpet

We soon will be replacing the old carpet in the library proper. I have
looked into tile carpet as a replacement and wondered if other libraries
have used this type of carpet opposed to inlayed. If so how long has it
been
down, what problems have you encountered if any such as corner's
lifting,
ease of rolling chairs and book carts across and any other problem or
pluses
you might have encountered.

Thanks for all your help
