When I was in high school, band used to have Tag Days. We'd have to
dress up in our uniform (which were HIDEOUS with a Fred Flinstone "Water
Buffalo" hat and everything), stand outside of businesses with empty
coffee cans, and ask for money.

Tracy, I believe that tag days are like the Poppy Days for veterans.
People who donate get "tags" -- a pin or a button or something -- to
show that they've contributed.

Subject: [Publib] Tag Day
I have been reading the old newspaper articles on our library's
development. In the late 1920s there were fundraisers called Tag Days.
Anybody know how these were conducted. It's not clear from the articles.
