[Publib] Card Catalogs of a Bygone Era

We can joke all we want about the card catalogs of a bygone age, but ten
years ago there were still many folks in our field who wanted us to "go
back" to the card catalog and twenty years ago most public libraries
still had them in use. What sacred, irreplaceable items in our current
work place will become door stops or museum exhibits in 5 or 10 years
from now?

Subject: [Publib] Clever uses for an old Card Catalog

A standard wine bottle fits perfectly in a drawer, even with the metal
rod in place.

On 4 April, 2007 Lise Chlebanowski asked:

Along the same topic...does anyone have clever uses for one? I inherited
a card catalog, but the drawers remain empty while I try to decide what
to do with them! Any ideas? I thought about storing jewelry, but I don't
want it in the bedroom....
