[Publib] It's spring

And from a look at the Publib archives it's been about five years since one of the grand old chestnut topics has raised its head.

One of the first signs of spring here is the first skirmish between the folks who want to park in the library's lot and the walk into the building and the sk8ers who have discovered that we have the best parking lots and sidewalks in the neighborhood. Caledon has an area of 265 square miles, so the skateboard park that is being built in the southeast corner of the town is of limited value to the kids in the rest of the community. This is a particular issue at two of our seven branches. Both branches have regularly scheduled visits by the Town's portable skateboard park. (The good news is that the Town is trying to provide a venue for the sport throughout the community. The bad news is that the set up takes place in the library parking lot, reinforcing the idea that this is a good place to skate.)

I'm not distressed with the phenomenon. I'm just worried about a customer in a walker having a collision with an exuberant skater. (Not to mention staff and customer cars having encounters with loose boards)

Has anyone come up with anything other than an uneasy alliance with reality to get through the skating season?
