Mary Beth--
Look to your local community hobby groups.
Call the Soceity of Creative Anachronism (Medieval recreation) to do a demo
(http://www.midhaven.org/).
Your local fiber groups (knitting, spinning, etc) to do things like a
knit-in or a spin-in.
Do you have a classic car group? What about motorcycles?
These types of groups all usually love to come out and show off. Including
them can also lend a great air of community support for the library.
Hope this helps.

Dear PubLibbers,
In two weeks we begin moving to our new, gorgeous, fantastic library.
And soon thereafter, of course, comes the Grand Opening. And so we come
to you, O collective wisdom: what are your favorite, creative, fun,
celebrative, really cool, practically-no-budget Grand Opening
activities??? What are Common Pitfalls To Strenuously Avoid? What are
the best ways to not [merely] feature a less-than-riveting line of
speeches from all VIPs present?
All ideas, experiences, hints and tips are welcome.
Appreciatively,
Mary Beth Conlee
