I forwarded the information regarding free access to NewspaperARCHIVE to
both our local computer department, and the state-administered GALILEO
system, with responses that they would consider the request.
Impatient me, I went ahead and subscribed personally on a quarterly
basis. It's a fantastic resource.
Sincerely,

One idea would be to create a special souvenir envelope for the occasion.
Information on how to do this is located at:

Dear PubLibbers,
In two weeks we begin moving to our new, gorgeous, fantastic library.
And soon thereafter, of course, comes the Grand Opening. And so we come
to you, O collective wisdom: what are your favorite, creative, fun,
celebrative, really cool, practically-no-budget Grand Opening
activities??? What are Common Pitfalls To Strenuously Avoid? What are
the best ways to not [merely] feature a less-than-riveting line of
speeches from all VIPs present?
All ideas, experiences, hints and tips are welcome.
Appreciatively,
Mary Beth Conlee

Oooh, oooh! Two of them came to ZBPL -- funny thing, the package was
addressed to a trustee who hasn't been on the board for more than 10
years.
There are many ideas for crafty projects using CDs/DVDs. This one
includes "alien space ships" which many be appropriate to the DVDs that
inspired this post.

This is one of the marketing tips and tricks brought to you by L. Ron Hubbard and the rest: members of the Church buy multiple copies of the whatever (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.) and then "donate" them to libraries. At every library I have ever worked for a box or two with multiple copies of the SF books would appear in our donation bin at least once a year. This helps keep the material in print and brings "truth" to the statement about "millions" sold worldwide. I learned this back in my days selling books.

One way of subtracting one from the "millions" is to write or call and request that your library be taken off their mailing list. I did this last year and haven't received another batch.

*I* received two of these―at an academic library!
Maybe we should bring them to ALA and create a sculpture...
